Getting In Touch With Your Inner Fire
In this episode, we dive deep into the fire element—one of the five energy types. I explain how the fire element influences our personality, physical traits, and overall energy flow. Fire types are dynamic, high-energy individuals who thrive on excitement and social interaction. However, when out of balance, this energy can lead to burnout, anxiety, or overall chaos in one's life.
We explore signs that your fire element may be out of balance, like feeling overly busy or disconnected from your passions, and share tips for realigning your energy. From diet and exercise suggestions to using essential oils and affirmations, this episode is packed with actionable advice.
Finally, I introduce a free quiz to help you discover your primary element and download a PDF guide with nine energetic techniques to stay balanced. You can take the quiz here.
In this episode I mention Denise Robinson's course 'Mastery of the Five Elements' (as part of her Emotions and Metaphysical Kinesiology modality). Click here to check out her website.
Don’t forget to tune in next week when we explore the Earth element!

Hi guys, welcome back! Today we’re going to be talking about one of the five elements, the energy of fire. I’m really excited to dive into this topic because I love the five elements—I’m kind of obsessed with them! Not only is this an incredible energy system within the body, but it also extends into our personality and physical body types. I find it fascinating and incredibly accurate.
If we’ve met before, I’ve probably already analyzed your energy type—I can’t help it! My interest in this really started when I took a kinesiology course with Denise Robinson from By the Bay Kinesiology. She’s amazing! Shout out to Denise, who created a whole modality called Emotions and Metaphysical Kinesiology. Her course, Mastery of the Five Elements, was what really sparked my passion for the five elements, and I’ve been exploring it deeply ever since.
So, in case you’re new to this concept, we all have a blend of the five elements within us, usually with one to three that dominate. These elements affect our day-to-day energy and our core energy constitution. Today, I’ll be focusing on the fire element—not just what it looks like when it's out of balance, but also how it shows up if fire is one of your main energy types.
You can spot a fire element person right away. They’re bubbling with fiery energy and seem to keep going endlessly. These are the people who are always multitasking, working out, and juggling a million things without stopping. They’re often wearing exercise gear, running around with tons of energy. Fire types also tend to have lean physiques and extreme or modern hairstyles.
What’s interesting is that in today’s media, the fire element body type is often portrayed as the ideal. But when you learn about the five elements, you realize we’re not all meant to look the same, and that’s okay! For example, earth elements are not meant to have lean, long bodies like fire types. So, learning your element type helps you accept yourself as you are—perfectly aligned with your own energy.
The fire element corresponds to summer—a time of growth, expansion, and excitement. It’s governed by the heart, pericardium, triple warmer, and small intestine meridians. When a fire element is out of balance, I often see clients experiencing anxiety, panic attacks, eczema, or hormonal imbalances. These signs, especially if fire is your dominant type, indicate that it’s crucial to restore balance.
Fire types have a basic need for love, warmth, and joy. Without these, they feel out of sync. Spiritually, fire types must connect to their true self. With all their social activity and busyness, they can easily lose touch with who they are beneath the surface. This is why it's important to bring awareness and intention to how they use their energy—are they doing things that truly bring them joy, or just ticking boxes?
When fire is balanced, you’re flourishing—excited, enthusiastic, and effortlessly multitasking. You’re connected to your true self, playful, and magnetic. But if it’s out of balance, you’ll feel chaos, burnout, or emotional extremes.
To bring your fire energy back into balance, you can incorporate more red foods if you need more fire, or avoid red foods (as well as alcohol, chocolate, dairy, and caffeine) if you need to calm it down. You might need more social interaction or, alternatively, more alone time. It’s all about finding what works for you.
Fire people thrive on spontaneity and connection, so things like massage, cardio exercise, and even sitting by a fire can help ground and balance their energy. Essential oils like frankincense, orange, sandalwood, and ylang ylang can also support the fire element. And an affirmation that aligns with fire energy is “I’m loving all parts of my being.”
So, as I mentioned earlier, we all have the five elements flowing through us. Knowing your element type can be a powerful way to align with your true self and live a more balanced life. To help you discover your main energy type, I’ve created a quiz that you can find in the show notes. You’ll also get a free alignment PDF with nine energetic techniques to help balance your energy. See the show notes to find a link to the quiz.
Next week, we’ll be exploring the earth element, so be sure to tune in for that. Thanks for listening today! I hope you enjoyed learning about the fire element, and I’ll see you in the next episode!
