Reflect, Release, Renew: Preparing for an Aligned New Year

Kate Kahl Season 1 Episode 9

In this special episode, I’m introducing a unique 30-day journey to help you let go of this year and create space for the new. Each day (from tomorrow), I’ll share a short, actionable podcast episode designed to guide you in reflecting on different aspects of your life, clearing away energetic debris, and setting the stage for a fresh start in 2025.

To get started, we explore in today's episode the Wheel of Life—a powerful tool to evaluate where you’re at in key areas like health, relationships, finances, and personal growth. Grab a journal and get ready to check in with yourself, reflect on what’s working, and identify areas needing a little extra love.

Join me as we take this gentle yet transformative journey together, one day at a time. Let’s align your energy and step into the new year feeling balanced, grounded, and excited for what’s to come.

Hey, guys. Welcome back to another episode. Today, I’m doing something a little different—something most podcasters don’t usually do. I want to create real value for you around letting go of this year and creating space for the new.

But here’s the thing: I don’t want to overwhelm you with a brain dump of all the ways to reflect on the past year. I know this is a busy time of year, and the last thing you need is more pressure. Instead, I’ve decided to break this into bite-sized pieces for the next 30 days.

Starting tomorrow, I’ll release a very short podcast episode—just a few minutes each day—focused on one action step or reflection. You can also find these videos on Instagram if you prefer watching. The idea is to gently unpack this year and reflect on what’s been working for you and what hasn’t, so we can create space for 2025 without dragging any lingering energy from this year into the next.

We’re giving ourselves the time and space to reset, gently and intentionally, so you’ll feel energized and excited for what’s to come. It’s a bit of a journey, and I hope you’re ready to join me on this.

To kick things off, I wanted to give you a framework that will guide our reflections over the next month. This is where the Wheel of Life comes in. It’s a fantastic tool to assess where you’re at in different areas of your life.

Let’s start with a little self-check-in: Where are you in your life right now? Not just this year, but in general. Often, we strive for balance, but it doesn’t mean everything has to be perfectly equal. It’s about finding the right balance for you—what feels good, what fuels you, and what makes sense for your life.

When we neglect certain areas of our lives, it starts to show up in ways we can’t ignore—whether that’s stress, dissatisfaction, or even physical symptoms. So, today, we’re going to use the Wheel of Life to reflect on where we’re at, what’s thriving, and what might need a little TLC.

If you can, grab a pen and paper or a journal. If not, just take a moment to reflect mentally. Journaling can really help solidify any intuitive nudges or mental notes that come up during this process.

The Wheel of Life breaks your life into categories. You’ll rate each category on a scale from 0 to 10—0 being “absolutely rubbish” and 10 being “amazing and full of vitality.” Once you have your scores, think about why you rated them that way.

Let’s go through the categories:

  1. Health:
How’s your physical, mental, emotional, and even spiritual health? What’s working well? What’s holding you back? For example, maybe you’ve been eating well but neglecting your mental health, or perhaps you’ve let old habits creep back in.
  2. Friends:
Do you have a solid, supportive friend circle? Have you been a good friend this year? Reflect on your closest friendships and whether they reflect the energy you want to attract into your life.
  3. Relationships:
How’s your connection with your partner or family? Are you open and honest, making time for intimacy and fun? Or are there areas where you’ve been distant or closed off?
  4. Hobbies:
Do you have hobbies that light you up? Have you made space for fun and creativity? If not, consider exploring something new next year.
  5. Spirituality:
Do you feel connected to something greater than yourself? Whether it’s religion, nature, or the universe, how aligned are you with your beliefs and your sense of purpose?
  6. Career:
Are you fulfilled in your work? Does your career align with your values and bring you a sense of pride or peace?
  7. Finances:
How have your finances been this year? Have you prioritized spending in alignment with your values? Money is energy—where is yours flowing?
  8. Personal Growth:
What steps have you taken this year to grow as a person? Have you prioritized self-awareness, discipline, or mindfulness?

The goal isn’t to make you feel bad about where you’re falling short. It’s about awareness—giving you a measuring stick so you can make adjustments where needed. This process is empowering because once you know where you’re at, you can take intentional action to realign and fill those gaps.

If you’d like a visual guide, I’ve created a downloadable Wheel of Life worksheet for you. It’s a simple A4 sheet where you can mark your scores and reflect on each area. You can use it as a ritual every year to track your growth and set new goals.

This is about creating balance, not perfection. It’s about choosing love and joy over fear and lack. When we come from a place of love, we’re open to possibilities and opportunities that align with our desires.

So that’s your task for today: Reflect on where you’re at in life, download the Wheel of Life worksheet if it feels right, and get ready for the journey ahead.

Over the next 30 days, I’ll muscle-test the topics we need to focus on each day. Whether you start tomorrow or catch up over the weekend, these reflections will help you show up for yourself daily.

By the end of this, you’ll feel lighter, more aligned, and ready to embrace 2025 with open arms. I can’t wait to see how this unfolds for you.

Thanks for joining me today, and I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 1!

Enjoy this time of reflection, and remember, it’s all about creating space for what’s to come. Talk to you tomorrow. Bye!
