Day 18: Listening to Your Heart & Aligning with Your True Desires

Kate Kahl Season 1 Episode 27

How often do you listen to your heart over your head? Society teaches us to chase external goals—money, relationships, achievements—but often, those desires come from our mind, not our heart. Today’s episode is about dropping out of your head and into your heart to uncover what truly aligns with your values and desires.

💡 What You’ll Learn:

  • How to recognise whether your goals are aligned with your heart or driven by societal expectations.
  • Why you don’t need external achievements to feel emotions like joy, freedom, or love—you can access them now.
  • A powerful technique from Byron Katie’s The Work to challenge and reframe limiting beliefs that block your heart’s desires.

Key Reflection Questions:

  • What does your heart truly want for the next 12 months?
  • Are your goals aligned with your heart, or are they rooted in external validation?
  • How would your life change if you released beliefs like “I don’t deserve this” or “It’s not possible”?

It’s time to reconnect with your heart, debunk limiting beliefs, and open yourself to the possibilities waiting for you.

Hi, everyone! Welcome to Day 18 of the 30-Day Life Reset!

Today, we’re talking about something really powerful: listening to your heart and aligning with your true desires.

So often, we set goals based on what society expects of us—things like earning more money, finding a partner, or hitting milestones in our careers. While those goals can be valid, they often come from our head, not our heart.

Head vs. Heart Goals

The mind tends to focus on external achievements:

  • “If I get that job, I’ll feel successful.”
  • “If I find a partner, I’ll feel loved.”
  • “If I lose weight, I’ll feel confident.”

But here’s the truth: You don’t need external things to feel the emotions you’re chasing. Joy, freedom, love, confidence—they’re all available to you right now when you drop into your heart.

How to Drop Into Your Heart

Take a moment to pause and ask yourself:

  • What does my heart truly want?
  • What would make me feel fulfilled, aligned, and at peace over the next 12 months?

The answers might surprise you. They’re often simpler, more profound, and more aligned with your values than the goals your head might set.

Reframing Limiting Beliefs

Sometimes, it’s not the external goals that block us—it’s our own limiting beliefs. Thoughts like:

  • “I don’t deserve this.”
  • “It’s not possible for me.”
  • “I’ll never be good enough.”

These beliefs keep us stuck and disconnected from what we truly want. One powerful way to challenge these beliefs is by using a technique inspired by Byron Katie’s The Work.

Try This Technique (by Byron Katie):

When you catch yourself thinking a limiting belief, ask:
1️⃣ Is it true?
2️⃣ Can I absolutely know it’s true?
3️⃣ Who would I be without this thought / belief?

By questioning your beliefs, you create space to reframe them and align more deeply with your heart’s desires.

Reflection for Today

I invite you to sit quietly and connect with your heart. Ask yourself:

  • What does my heart truly want for the next 12 months?
  • Are my goals aligned with my heart or driven by external expectations?
  • How can I feel joy, love, or peace right now, without waiting for external validation?

Write down your reflections, and see what comes up.

Key Takeaway

When we align with our heart’s desires, we access a deeper sense of fulfillment and peace. We let go of chasing external achievements to find happiness, and instead, we create a life that feels true to who we are.

I’ll see you tomorrow for Day 19, where we’ll continue this journey of alignment and transformation!
